HISTORY

Denmark's secret Cold War bunker

Deep within a forest in North Jutland lies REGAN Vest, a former government facility that was kept secret from the public for many years.
In the 1960s, the facility was built to protect the government, officials, and parts of the royal family in case of a third world war. The bunker is located 60 meters underground, spans 5,500 m², and consists of 232 rooms connected by long corridors.
Today, the facility is a protected site and open as a museum, so the public can experience one of the most important places in Denmark's recent history.

THE CHALLENGE

No usable radio coverage underground

When we started the project, there was no radio coverage in the facility. It was impossible to communicate with people inside the bunker, which posed a safety risk for both personnel and visitors.
Therefore, it was necessary to establish a complete radio coverage solution based on the SINE network, as well as an Alarm Control System for personnel safety throughout the facility.
THE SOLUTION

A custom-developed solution for a listed site

The facility presents unique demands. As a listed building, all installations must be carried out with great respect for the original structures and with minimal visual impact.
We have therefore developed a discreet solution with specially designed cables and antennas, strategically placed in cavities between the ground surface and the bunker facility, so that customer wishes could be fulfilled.
IMPLEMENTATION

SINE radio coverage in hallways and rooms

We have provided indoor radio coverage in all hallways and rooms, so that staff can communicate regardless of their location in the facility. In addition, we have implemented an Alarm Control System, which ensures that personnel can be located quickly in the event of an accident.
The solution is based on proven technology, adapted to the very specific conditions at REGAN Vest.
RESULT

Personnel safety and location tracking

With the new solution, there is full radio coverage throughout the bunker, and staff can call for help and be located if a critical situation arises.
This creates significantly greater security for both staff and visitors and ensures that REGAN Vest can operate the museum safely and professionally.
