From existing system to reliable TETRA communication

When a superyacht operates on the open sea, safe and stable communication is crucial for the crew, operations, and safety alike. Even short interruptions can have consequences when everyone on board relies on fast and dependable communication.

We were chosen to modernize the communication solution on board the M/Y Sea Owl by upgrading the existing Motorola TETRA system to a modern Motorola MTS-2 TETRA solution.

The project included consulting, planning, programming, installation, and commissioning of the new system. The entire implementation was carried out with a focus on maximum operational stability, high performance, and minimal impact on the ship's daily operations.

THE CHALLENGE

Communication with no room for downtime

The existing TETRA system aboard the M/Y Sea Owl was in need of a technological upgrade to increase operational reliability and support new onboard functions.

As the superyacht is in operation all year round, the modernization had to be carried out within a limited time frame in port, with minimal impact on daily operations and without compromising critical communication.

Minimal downtime

The upgrade had to be carried out quickly during Sea Owl's limited stay in port.

Stable communication

The crew needed to be able to communicate securely and reliably across the entire ship.

Intelligent alarm management

The new system should support efficient handling of alarms and critical incidents on board.

Integration of tenders

Communication with the tender boats was to be integrated with the ship's navigation system and other technical infrastructure.

THE SOLUTION

An integrated TETRA solution built for life on board

We upgraded the system to a modern Motorola MTS-2 TETRA solution and handled the entire process from consulting and planning to programming, installation and commissioning.

The new solution strengthens internal communication and also enables intelligent alarm handling and integration of tenders with the ship's navigation system. The result is a cohesive communication solution with a focus on safety, stability, and efficient operation.
